Description
On the picture you can see a close up of a green looking lizard - a mertens water monitor (if my google researches are right, please correct me, if this is wrong). I found this "little" guy while on a guided tour in the Kakadu National Park area (Northern Territory of Australia) just above the Gunlom Falls. I found him very intriguing as he had a very elegant way of moving around and I also like the green colour of his skin, so I spent nearly all my time watching and taking photographs of him instead of taking a bath in the nearby lake as the other people in my group did, but I thought my new found friend deserved a little bit of my attention and so at the end of the day I left the place with a happy smile on my face and still have fond memories everytime I look at the picture.

Great capture, Kathrin. I have seen a similar large one in Bungle Bungle NP in WA ;)

Thank you, Jan :) I've only seen the "normal" tiny lizards before, so he was special to me when I saw him.
